Holiday rentals on the Costa Almeria,
Spain
Costa Almeria
The Spanish province of Almeria has about
200 miles of varied coastline that attracts
tourists to its resorts. However, Almeria also offers
beautiful spots for nature-lovers to explore.
With many unspoiled fishing
villages, long sandy beaches and small intimate coves and being sunny and mild, Almeria
is a lot less built up than many of Spain's Costas.
Almeria lies southeast of the Iberian Peninsula
on the Mediterranean Sea. It still has archaeological evidence of the many
ancient cultures who lived here attracted by the natural beauty and useful
maritime location.
The rugged coastline of the Costa de Almeria
is dotted with pretty coves, working ports and vast expanses of beach.
Inland, the landscape is mountainous and the traditional coastal resorts
offer a taste of the 'real spain'. Travel through one of Europe's most
beautiful mountain ranges, the Sierra Nevada taking in the 'white
villages' and the Ragua pass. Don't forget a visit to Guadix, famous for
its cave house families.Much of the region retains an African flavour
imported from the continent which lies a short distance away across the
Mediterranean.
Inland, Almeria is rather barren and arid,
and boasts Europe's only desert region around the village of Tabernas which has been used as the location for several western movies.

Climate in Almeria
This is an arid desert landscape and the
annual rainfall here is less than 200mm. It is sparsely populated, few
villages and a very low population density. Visitors feel a sense of
exploration here as many of the coves can only be reached on foot.
Markets
There are numerous markets
held along the Costa Blanca. Most are well worth
visiting for fresh produce and souvenirs. The days hey
are held vary according to the town. Check at the local
tourist information office.
Popular
resorts
The most popular coastal village is San José. A lighthouse
stands at the tip of the Cabo de Gata peninsula, north of Almeria city,
marking the extremity of Andalusia's largest coastal
nature reserve. Most visitors head for the holiday resorts to the east and west
of the lively capital city of Almeria which has picturesque squares, cafes, a ferry port and marina.

Movie theme parks in Almeria
Almeria drew some of the most popular
Hollywood mames including
legendary stars such as Clint Eastwood, Lee van Cleef,
and Charles Bronson to film sets which movie goers will recognise from such great films as The Good
The Bad and The Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars and The Magnificent Seven.
These movie sets have now become theme park
tourist attractions. There are three theme parks to visit to visit - Mini
Hollywood, Texas Hollywood and Western Leone.
The Costa Almeria is as varied as any of the
Spanish Coasts and is largely unspoiled. To the
east of Almeria there is the rugged coast of the Cabo de Gata
- Nijar natural park.
Its craggy coastline attracts hikers,
scuba divers and bird watchers and is popular with nature lovers and
back-packers.
Despite the dry landscape Almeria has developed a thriving agricultural industry
with plastic-covered
tunnel farms dotted across the landscape packed with fresh produce and flowers.
