The Costa Brava offers holidaymakers natural
beauty, closeness to the fantastic city of Barcelona, historic villages,
and excellent sports facilities including world famous golf courses as
well as some gotgrous beaches.
Girona/Costa Brava airport now has regular
daily flights from London Stansted and there are many fights from almost
everywhere to Barcelona. Local train services are excellent, as is the
road network.
Although cooler in winter than the Costa del Sol further south, the Costa
Brava is also cooler in summer with daytime temperatures around 30C. Lunch
on the terrace is a normal occurance except perhaps in December and
January.
The hot summers and mild winters make the
Costa Brava a sport fanatic's paradise. With a choice of long, sandy
beaches, secluded coves and tiny bays, water sports are popular.
The clear waters of this coastline offer
excellent opportunities for snorkelling especially in the waters of the
many tiny coves that are almost impossible to get to.
Away from the bustle you can venture to
hidden inlets and along rural routes for peace, isolation and local colour,
or head to Barcelona, one of Europe's most vibrant and exciting cities.

on the Costa Brava, Spain
The Costa's main resorts are Tossa de Mar,
Lloret de Mar and Santa Susanna.
Blanes harbour at the border of the province
of Barcelona, marks the beginning of the most light-filled part of the
Costa Brava. There is a good, 1km beach with yacht clubs and a marina.
Between Blanes and Lloret de Mar is the
peaceful beache of Santa Catalina and of Fenals, which is developed with
tourist constructions.
Lloret de Mar is a major tourist resort with
hotels along the coast as well as a variety of establishments and shows
for an animated night life including bars, discotheques, night clubs and
casinos. The resort's main street bustles with life day and night while
the rocky coastline is dotted with bays.

Pals is one of the best preserved medieval
villages in Catalonia's coastal area. The quiet, walled old quarter has
been restored, making a pretty place to explore, with views of the beach
in the distance. The long beach and lush golf courses of Platja de Pals
are just 6kms from Pals village.
Tossa de
Mar has two beaches and a special charm. Tossa de Mar
can also offer an Old Town and 14th Century castle.
Opposite the main sand and shingle beach you will find
plenty of restaurants and bars while on Cala Llevada
beach water sports are available.
Santa
Susanna is a small and friendly resort in Costa Maresme
and boasts 2km of coarse sand beach with a lively
promenade. It is less lively than Lloret, but still has
a range of bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Pineda is
located in Costa del Maresme and is a traditional resort
suited to those looking for a quiet and peaceful break.
It has a long beach and is generally uncrowded.
Markets
There are numerous markets
held along the Costa Blanca. Most are well worth
visiting for fresh produce and souvenirs. The days they
are held vary according to the town. Check at the local
tourist information office.
