The Costa Calida stretches along 250km from
the beach of Carolina in Aguilas, a few kilometers from the province of
Almeria, to the beach at El Mojon on the boundary with Alicante.
The area offers a wide choice of activities
for the visitor including all manner of water sports, hiking, and
hill-climbing.
The Costa Calida starts at El Mojon, an old
fishing village with a lovely beach. Near El Mojon is the Regional Park of
Las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar, the most important
wetlands in the region of Murcia.
The World Health Organisation declared the
province of Murcia the cleanest area in Spain with the least industrial
pollution.

Lo Pagan
is a town with the largest area of open-area mud baths
in Europe and these mud baths are recommended for all
kinds of skin complaints.
The Mar Menor is Europes largest salt water lagoon
comprising over 170 square kilometres of shallow water
surrounded by the districts of San Pedro del Pinatar,
San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera, Los Alcazares and La
Manga to name just a few.
During the hot summer months, the temperature of the Mar
Menor rises to be on a par with a warm bath making it
ideal place to learn water sports such as sailing,
windsurfing, water and jet ski-ing. The Mar Menor forms
the northern boundary of the exclusive La Manga Club.

Cartagena is worth a visit because of its historical
past. For more than 2,000 years Cartagena was a
strategic Mediterranean port, surrounded by
fortifications.
Temperatures on the
Costa Calida
This area of the Murcia coast is blessed with 315 days
of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 17
degrees. Minimum temperatures range between 12-14C and
maximum temperatures between 20-22C in winter. Summer
temperatures vary between 18-20C minimum and between
30-35Cmaximum. The average annual temperature is 18C.
The Costa Blanca attracts millions of tourists every
year with its marvellous beaches.
Markets
There are numerous markets
held along the Costa Blanca. Most are well worth
visiting for fresh produce and souvenirs. The days they
are held vary according to the town. Check at the local
tourist information office.
